Three years ago, we built a service provider booking app (plumbers, carpenters, electricians) from scratch, fully custom code. Took close to 4 months to get live.
Today, with AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT in the workflow, I think a comparable MVP could realistically ship in 4-6 weeks. The boilerplate and repetitive work compress fast, matching logic and payment edge cases still need real engineering judgment.
If you had to rebuild something similar today, what timeline would you expect?

AI collapses the part that was never the bottleneck. The 4 months on a booking app is payments, provider onboarding, dispute flows, notifications that actually fire, and store review, none of which get shorter because the CRUD screens wrote themselves. The scaffold is a week...
Fair point, and that matches what we've seen too. The scaffold is genuinely fast now, but dispute flows and provider onboarding still need real design decisions, not just code. Where AI actually helps there is speeding up the iteration on those flows once you know what you're building, not skipping the thinking itself.
Agreed. The other thing AI does not shorten is the feedback loop with real providers and payment processors, onboarding a live Stripe Connect account, waiting on payout tests, chasing a plumber to finish a test booking. That calendar time is fixed no matter how fast the code ships.

Completely agree, that's actually the bigger bottleneck in my experience. Code moves at whatever pace you push it, but Stripe Connect verification, payout test cycles, and getting a real provider to actually complete a test booking all run on someone else's...

Smart Home & Energy Management App UI Design
This is a modern mobile app concept designed for a smart home platform focused on giving users complete control over their home environment temperature, air quality, energy consumption, and sleep rhythm through a dark, cinematic interface that feels as intelligent as the home it manages.
The goal was to make home automation feel effortless and premium. Deep black surfaces, rich purple and pink gradients, pixel-style display typography, and glowing dial controls that make every interaction feel considered and tactile.
Special attention was given to:
Home overview - 29°C, 48% humidity, excellent air quality, 2.4 kWh used;
Energy today - 12.7 kWh, $2.84 cost, peak at 8 PM;
AC dial control - 23°C with Heat/Cold/Air/Humidity modes and scheduling;
Sleep rhythm - 7h 42m, Good recovery rating;
Daily energy curve - 219.9$ total cost, 3.6 kWh peak
The result is a smart home app UI that makes managing your environment feel as calm and considered as the environment itself
