I shipped my first mobile game this week.
LexiBlocks combines two genres that rarely meet: falling-block stacking and word building. Each piece carries letters, and you clear the board by spelling words across or down.
A few things I learned building it solo in Flutter:
- Design the system first. I built a full design system (tokens, tile components, screens) before writing game code, and it made the Flutter build much faster.
- The core loop is one decision. Every drop trades survival against score. Everything else supports that.
- Word detection needs rules. I scan every row and column after each lock and take the longest valid word per run, so players get credit without subword spam.
