Someone I know referred me to a startup founder a while back. They needed help with their website. We had a call, and I realised they actually needed design work at that stage, not development. That's not what I do. Instead of forcing it or ghosting them, I connected them with someone I trust who handles design. Then thanked the person who referred me. Not every opportunity is the right fit. I'd rather say no to work that doesn't match what I do than take on something I can't deliver well. Saying no to the wrong projects makes space for the right ones.
