Book by the People: one question, real voices, one book
A live Base44 app where people answer one question in their own voice, in any language, and AI checks, translates and groups every voice into the chapters of one real book, with each quote in the person's exact words and with their name.
Every book about what people think has the same problem: one author guessing. So I flipped it. Book by the People is written by the people themselves.
Book 1 asks: "Is AI making you smarter or lazier?"
How it works today (live):
- Speak, don't type. Sign in with Google, pick from about 40 languages, and talk for up to 10 minutes. You say a random start word first, which proves a real person is speaking right now. Typing is there as a backup.
- Any language. Non-English voices are translated to English, and you can switch between your original words and the English version.
- AI checks every voice. Each voice goes through an automated pipeline that checks it, translates it and groups similar views. The checks run on Nebius (DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash), with a hard $20 AI budget that can't be exceeded.
- A live globe. The home page has a 3D globe with a dot for every person who spoke, a live counter, a countdown and a ticker of who just spoke.
- Your own page. Each contributor can see the status of their voices ("AI is checking", "Passed AI checks · in the book") and their translation.
- Making the book. In the owner Studio, chapters are planned from what people actually said (no fixed number of chapters), drafted and checked, and nothing goes live until the owner presses Publish. The finished book can be copied into NotebookLM for an audio and video version.
- Book 2 is picked by readers in a live vote.
- Privacy. Only your name and country are shown. Words stay sealed until release, AI never trains on them, and the app is for adults (18+).
What's not live yet (planned):
- Right now there is one book, and only I (the owner) can start a book and set its topic. Anyone can add their voice to it.
- Next, I want to open it up so anyone can become the owner of their own book: choose their own topic, invite people to speak, and have the AI turn the voices into their book.
Built entirely on Base44: entities for voices, profiles, chapters and votes, backend functions for the AI pipeline, Google sign-in, file uploads and Base44 Secrets to keep the AI key out of the code.

For the Base44 Challenge, I decided to focus on something close to me... my own website. I wanted to make sure it felt fun, fresh and featured automated elements to make potential clients' lives easier and, in turn, mine.
The website features an interactive colour-changing cursor, a 3D project carousel and a personalised questionnaire that tailors the questions I ask to the specific project a client needs help with.
Client enquiries go straight to my inbox and into a private project portal, where I can review the details and keep all the information handy for follow-ups.
On top of that, I set up a project management system where I can create projects, add tasks and keep track of deadlines. It's fully customisable and easy to use.
Less admin, better briefs, and more time to focus on the creative work. 🙌

Rally: the group chat admin you never have to be.
Every group chat has one person who makes the poll, chases replies and posts the result. Rally does that job. Type one sentence like "lake trip in November, who's driving, what do we bring" and Rally's AI drafts the cards: a when-works poll, who's in, a bring list, to-dos. Check the preview, post it, done.
Then Rally does the follow-up. Base44 Workflows nudge only the people who haven't answered, close polls and break ties, send day-before reminders and a Sunday recap. The Rally log shows every job it took off the group's plate.
13 card types (polls, RSVPs, a decision wheel, check-in streaks, cost splits, a shared photo wall and more), pin and drag to reorder, realtime updates, built mobile-first.

and,
