Most contractors don’t have a JobTread problem. They have a setup problem.
I’ve implemented and audited JobTread for builders, remodelers and specialty contractors across the US, Canada and Australia. The same issues come up again and again:
Cost codes copied from QuickBooks. Accounting categories aren’t estimating categories. Job costing in JobTread only works when your cost codes match how you build and price work.
No catalog, so every estimate starts from zero. Without a clean cost item catalog, every bid relies on memory, and margins drift from job to job.
Budgets that never change after the sale. If change orders don’t flow into the budget, your job cost reports aren’t measuring anything.
Templates nobody uses. The template was built once, the field team doesn’t trust it, and everyone goes back to texts and spreadsheets.
Dashboards showing the wrong numbers. Bad filters (closed jobs, test jobs, duplicate customers) make KPIs look better or worse than reality.
The fix is rarely more features. It’s structure: cost codes, catalog, templates, workflows, then reporting, in that order.
If your team is paying for JobTread but still running the business out of spreadsheets, I’m happy to take a look.
