From Article to YouTube Explainer: Who Keeps Canada’s $28 Oil Discount? I turned a written energy-market analysis into a 3-minute documentary-style YouTube explainer, with animated charts, maps and a mystery-style story.

The challenge: A dense article full of numbers (price spreads, refinery utilisation, exchange rates, earnings timing). The goal was a video that holds attention without losing accuracy.

What I did: • Hook in the first 5 seconds: a live counter that grows $875 every second, the real price gap, ticking while you watch • Story structure: obvious suspect → fake ending (“Video over… not so fast”) → the twist → four suspects, one chapter each • Data you can trust: every figure comes from the source article; bar charts start at zero with units and dates • Motion graphics: animated maps, bar charts, currency conversion, timelines, and stamps and labels timed to the exact narrated word • Full production: script, voiceover, sound design, music mix, captions
