McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing have had different owners since April 2025. This week they shipped one identity. The motorsport press spent the week asking whether the wordmark was necessary. Fair question, wrong target. They kept the Speedmark and the papaya, which is where all the recognition lives. The new lettering is a nice story from Bruce McLaren's father's service station in Auckland, and you need the press release to read it. The decision that matters is underneath all that. Two companies with two cap tables agreed to look like one company, and wrote the agreement down as a system. That is the deliverable. I see the opposite version at Series B constantly. Product one has a mark. Product two ships with its own because the PM wanted a launch moment. A platform tier adds a third. Now the pricing page has three logos and the sales deck has a slide whose only job is to explain the family. Nobody chose a house of brands. It accreted, one Figma file at a time. Brand architecture is the rebrand decision that actually carries money. Most growth-stage companies make it by accident. The rule I give founders: one mark, every product is your company name plus a plain noun, until a customer says a product name in a sales call without your company name in front of it. keeping the papaya was the right call

I noticed clean energy brands were either too crunchy, nobody made renewable power feel simple and exciting.

I designed Luno to be the spark that starts something bigger - clean, direct and confident. Energy without the noise.

I merged a spark with the letter "L". Four blades rotating outward energy caught mid motion, being captured and released.

I placed Luno in clean energy - solar, smart grids, storage - as the modern alternative to tired green washed branding.

So cool 🔥
