The worst mistake you can make in character animation is not moving it enough.
The second worst mistake is moving it for no reason.
Stop wiggling it around just so there's movement. Living creatures move for a reason. They shift their weight. They blink. They breathe. They get bored.
Look at this crowd of slimes I made in Rive. They're identical (literally the same Component), but by randomizing their idle movements through the State Machine, they naturally fall out-of-sync with each other.
They feel more like a crowd of unique individuals, not copy-pasted digital assets.
Having a character's eyes follow your cursor is fun. But it's easy to make the mistake of following the cursor F O R E V E R. Real creatures get distracted. They lose interest.
Those tiny acting moments and details are what make a character feel alive!
