A common mistake creators make is picking a newsletter platform based solely on popularity rather than their long-term business model.

If you’re relying on one launch video and one post to cover the whole customer journey, you’re living in la la land.
Watch how the big B2B software companies launch a feature. The main video goes out first. Then come the supporting pieces: a 10-second GIF that makes the post copy tangible, a 30-second feature cut, or a five-minute walkthrough for the buyer who wants to see the product actually work.
The main video gives people the big picture. The supporting pieces keep the launch alive for weeks and reach buyers at different stages.
You probably won’t make all of them and should be adjusted on priority. The point is to give the marketing team a menu to prioritize instead of asking one post to do everything.
Framing it as a menu instead of a single hero post is the shift most teams need to hear. When you pitch this to a client who's only ever budgeted for the one launch video, is the four asset breakdown an easy sell or does it usually take convincing?
Would you rather have more views but less engagement, or more engagement but fewer views?
I'd pick the second one every time, and I have the numbers to explain why.
Over the last five months as content strategist for WayMaker Media (contracted by March Forth Agency), a Black culture editorial brand, views went down.
Engagement went up 72.5%. Shares up 149%. Net new followers up 9k+. which is 102.4%.
Fewer people scrolling past. Far more people actually doing something.
