Here's what I learned from rebuilding the experience instead of just redesigning the visuals:
And honestly, some of the problems were hiding in plain sight 👀
Leak #1: The product page had no social proof where it mattered. Users landed, scrolled, and left before trusting the brand enough to click "Add to Cart." We added a UGC video block - real customers, real moments - directly on the product page, above the decision point. Result: +18% conversion rate.
Leak #2: Shopify's native checkout felt too rigid. No flexibility. No reassurance. No trust signals at the moment users most needed them - right before they handed over their card. We rebuilt the checkout flow: cleaner layout, product safety info, cross-sell widget, guarantees visible. Result: −20% checkout abandonment.
Leak #3: Customers didn't know complementary products existed. The product page had no bundle logic. Buyers who wanted a complete set had to search manually - most didn't bother. We added a "Buy more at a lower price" widget. Simple. Non-intrusive. Obvious in hindsight. Result: +$200K in monthly revenue.
We went through the site the way users do - not the way it was built. Page by page. Scroll by scroll. Every element that couldn't justify its place? Gone. The stuff that looked informative? Usually just noise.One of the biggest mindset shifts during this project was realizing: users don’t read websites the way teams build them.
