...but from what I keep seeing while working closely with healthcare companies, interoperability is still one of the biggest factors behind what actually scales and what gets stuck in pilot mode.
ONC’s recent update makes that pretty clear, as broader interoperability efforts continue gaining momentum across the sector.
And honestly, that aligns with what happens inside real systems.
When data moves inconsistently, when workflows rely on partial context, or when systems can’t exchange information cleanly, even strong products hit limits very quickly.
In those environments, AI often gets pushed into compensating for fragmented infrastructure instead of creating real leverage on top of a solid foundation.
That usually adds complexity rather than reducing it.
One thing I keep noticing is that some of the most important technical work in healthcare is still the least visible.
It’s the work that makes systems more connected, more usable, and more dependable underneath.
Because in healthcare, smarter functionality means very little if the foundation underneath is still disconnected.
