I recently designed a complete visual direction for a client — clean, modern, and aligned with the personality they wanted to project. And yes… it got rejected. But here’s the interesting part:  The rejection wasn’t about the quality of the visuals.  It was about the client realizing that their brand vision wasn’t fully defined yet. Sometimes a concept gets rejected not because it's wrong —  but because it finally shows the client what they actually want. The catch is that this only works if the rejected round is paid for, otherwise you've quietly funded the client's discovery out of your own hours. What worked for me was moving that argument earlier: a short positioning pass before any visuals, so the direction that gets killed...

Yes, I completely agree. We usually discuss and clarify the direction before finalizing a concept. However, sometimes a client needs more clarification through visuals, and even a concept that was discussed beforehand can still be rejected once they see it. In this case, the...
