A young Moldovan woman works remotely from her Amsterdam apartment, headphones on, notifications piling up. Then a song plays – an original electronic folk track rooted in Moldovan doina – and something shifts. She is pulled, without warning, into her grandmother's village in 1940s Moldova. She becomes her grandmother: young, barefoot, free. She walks through the village, smells wildflowers, watches women spin wool outside whitewashed houses, sees shepherds on the hills, runs through cornfields and sunflower fields. Then the song stops.

No One Was On Slack In 1940 is a show about what we've traded for convenience. Each episode: one song, one memory, one return. Shot in the style of Tarkovsky – slow, sensory, unhurried. The music is original folk-electronic produced by the contestant herself. The world it opens is Moldova: one of Europe's least visited countries and one of its most ancient ones.
