PROMETHEUS — Where Illustration Meets Motion Graphics
A hybrid digital illustration and graphic design piece exploring myth, fire, and rebirth.
This project began as an experiment in blending classical sculpture with dynamic, illustrated fire, pushing a static marble form into something that feels alive, volatile, and mid-transformation. Inspired by the myth of Prometheus, the piece visualizes the moment fire is stolen from the gods: stone cracking under its own defiance, light breaking through where there should only be silence.
Process & Approach:
The composition layers a photographed/rendered classical statue with hand-illustrated flame elements, built up in Photoshop through multiple passes, selection refinement, color grading, and lighting work to make two very different visual languages (photographic realism and graphic illustration) feel like one unified world. A deep cosmic/nebula backdrop was added to give the piece scale and atmosphere, while cracks were etched into the statue's surface to suggest it's breaking apart from within, not just burning from outside.
Typography was kept classical and minimal, a serif title treatment paired with a short tagline, "Fire was never meant to be tamed," to reinforce the mythological tone without competing with the visual chaos of the flame.
