About this service

Summary

In over twelve years of freelancing, I have helped numerous students in creating standout applications to schools they are pursuing. All of my clients are special to me and I want the best for them, but two of them stand out here. One was a repeat client who wanted to transfer to Columbia University. I had seen her writing improve over the course of two years and was so proud to help her polish a beautiful essay and even more proud when she got in. The other standout client was a high school boy who was applying to a prestigious and highly competitive high school program, with only one chance to be accepted. When I learned he was accepted, I found myself cheering out loud with his father. I wrote two books that I published through my company on Amazon because of my experience in helping students through my freelance work, one of which is specifically about making the important decisions associated with furthering one's education. I would love to help you get started in this season of your life.

FAQs

  • Can you help me research schools?

Absolutely! You don't need to have a specific list or application material filled out to get started working with me. I am happy to help you at any stage of this journey!

  • Will you write my essays for me?

The answer to this is a little complicated, because I might, but it will need to be in the pursuit of telling *your* story that you have already provided me with. Unlike papers that you're turning in for academic credit, there are somewhat lower standards for writing your application essays. I won't hesitate to rewrite some sentences or even build up some new sentences as part of the feedback for your work, but I also won't just take a tiny bit of information from you and write you a long essay. Some essay questions require very short answers and are straight forward and I do not see any ethical issue in writing out a concise, factual answer for you. I also have no issues with typing out words you say to me as we are talking and piecing them into your essays, as they are your words simply being edited by me.

  • Will you decide which schools I should apply to?

I will help you come up with pros and cons to each school you find interesting and I might even bring you a list of schools that I suspect may fit your interests and goals in some way, but I cannot and will not make any decisions for you. I am likely to encourage you to apply to more than one school, and perhaps even a higher number of schools, as I know from personal experience that applying to a single program, even if you get in, is a lot of stress (I did this with graduate school and it was a long several months until I received my acceptance letter). As I get to know you and your goals, I will be able to better serve you with suggestions and support, but I will never make any decisions for you about which schools to apply to.

  • Do you guarantee that I will be accepted?

I *want* my clients to be accepted into all their dream programs and will do my best to help turn those dreams into reality, but I cannot make any guarantees about anything as these things are entirely out of my control. Once we've worked to make your application materials as incredible as we can, there are any number of factors that come into play that could lead to rejection, ranging from your material landing in front of an overtired reviewer to quotas we can't predict not being met. I can promise that I will do my best for you and that I am rooting for your success.
