Process

TLDR: We'll figure out what you are aiming for; document it; draft a portion; let you review that portion; draft half the story for your review; finish up the entire story with your feedback incorporated, and send the final-final version to you. Celebrate! :)

Discovery & Kickoff: We begin with an in-depth conversation and a brief questionnaire to capture your vision, key themes, target audience, and any specific ideas you have. (Email/Messanger/ Or Virtual meeting) - Optional: I may review the work of an author in the genre whose tone or storytelling you prefer.

Book Brief/Treatment Creation: I’ll develop a concise document that outlines the overall story vision, tone, and narrative arc. This treatment serves as a roadmap for the manuscript.

Outline Stage (Optional): If desired, I can create a detailed outline at the start to provide clear structure. Alternatively, I can craft a reverse outline after delivering the early draft.

Early Draft Delivery (Milestone 1): I’ll deliver the first portion of the manuscript (approximately 10K words) to set the narrative tone, establish characters, and introduce the plot direction. You’ll review and provide feedback.

Mid-Draft Development (Milestone 2): Building on your feedback, I continue drafting to deepen character arcs and refine plot consistency, ensuring the story evolves naturally. At the approximate midway point, I'll send it to you for review (as in milestone 1).

First Draft Completion (Milestone 3): I’ll continue writing, following the goals and outline (if provided) until the full first draft is complete.

Editing and Refinement (Milestone 4):

Before submitting the manuscript for your review, I’ll go through the draft to refine language, improve flow, and enhance consistency.

Client Review & Feedback (Milestone 5): You’ll receive the full manuscript to review. At this stage, you can provide content feedback and request adjustments as needed.

Final Review & Delivery (Milestone 6): I complete the manuscript with the incorporated final feedback. The final draft is delivered in Word Doc or PDF.

After Action Review/ Denouement (Optional)

This is both a wrap-up and celebration session. The work is done. Many clients want to work with the same ghostwriter again if things went well. This is a great time to learn from our process together to make any future work go even easier. And even if we won't work together, if there is constructive feedback, you can share it easily and openly.
