Process

3D Animation Process for an Architectural Project
Project Brief and Requirements Gathering The process begins by meeting with the client to understand the project’s goals, style preferences, and specific elements to highlight. This includes discussing the building's purpose, key features, and any requirements regarding lighting, materials, or surrounding environments. Any technical requirements, such as resolution and format, are also established here.
Concept Development and Storyboarding A concept is developed based on the client's vision, and a storyboard is created to outline the animation’s structure and flow. The storyboard helps visualize the sequence of shots, camera angles, and focal points for each scene, ensuring that the animation effectively communicates the architectural features.
3D Modeling The building, interior, and exterior elements are modeled in detail, following architectural plans and references provided by the client. This stage includes creating accurate geometry and optimizing the models to ensure smooth performance during rendering.
Texturing and Material Creation PBR (Physically-Based Rendering) materials are applied to achieve realistic surfaces and textures. Each model is UV-unwrapped to ensure that materials, such as glass, wood, and metal, are represented accurately and consistently across the project.
Lighting Setup Lighting is essential for setting the mood and realism of the scene. The lighting setup is designed based on the time of day, atmosphere, and the client’s preferences. Realistic lighting and shadows are added to highlight the building's structure and material details.
Camera Path and Animation Camera paths are created to guide the viewer through the space, focusing on key areas of the building and providing a smooth, engaging experience. The animation can include various angles, slow pans, and close-ups to emphasize details. Keyframes are set to control the camera movement and ensure a fluid animation.
Rendering Once the scene is fully set up, the animation is rendered. This process can be time-consuming, as each frame must be calculated and produced in high quality. The rendering settings are optimized to balance image quality with rendering time.
Post-Production and Editing The rendered frames are edited in post-production software to enhance the visuals, adding effects, color correction, and any necessary adjustments to match the desired tone. Transitions, music, and text overlays can also be incorporated at this stage for a polished final product.
Review and Revisions The preliminary version of the animation is shared with the client for review. Any feedback or necessary adjustments are implemented, such as changing camera angles or tweaking lighting for the best representation of the design.
Final Delivery Once approved, the final version of the animation is exported in the required format and delivered to the client, ready for presentation or marketing use.
