Need a technical lifeline? I've been working in and around startups since 2003, primarily as a developer and technical co-founder and can help answer most of the questions early stage founders have around tech, like what tools are good bets, how to prioritize features or functionality, what database to use, whether it's better to build vs buy specific capabilities, and how to find and evaluate your first technical hires (for both culture and capabilities).

What's included

Tech Stack Consultation
We'll have a 90 minute Google Meet or Zoom call to discuss what you're trying to build, where your company is at, what constraints and challenges you have over the near and long term (at a high-level), and identify areas that would be useful to workshop or explore together on the call. We can use the time to evaluate potential tools or stacks, dive into approaches for building a specific feature, validating the robustness of an existing plan, or even discuss ways to find and evaluate candidates (hint: Contra can help!). You'll have opportunities to ask any questions you have on the call, and we can stay in touch afterward with follow-up sessions as desired or needed.
FAQs
This is targeted at semi-technical founders (or potential founders) that are either trying to formulate or validate a plan, or looking for tactical assistance on making a decision around their app/website/startup stack or development.
We can still absolutely chat, and I can help break down tech tools and provide robust analogies and parallels for reasoning about technologies that are being considered. I can also provide guidance on where to learn more and what to look for when evaluating the *people* you're bringing on board.
We can add additional time to the same call, but I find it's best to sleep on what we have discussed and come back after it's fully set in either the next day or the next week. I am typically available with 1–2 week notice for follow-up calls to review how things have gone, dive into additional areas of exploration, or to shift focus to a new venture or vertical.
I am not able to discuss or reveal any non-public information about any former clients or employers including without limitation Figma and Contra. If you are creating a competing tool to one of these platforms, I probably cannot advise you at this time.
