Process

Discovery Session:

When it comes to naming, collaboration is the key to success. That’s why I leave the ‘Fill it in yourself’ questionnaires behind and hold a comprehensive discovery session with the client. Here we’ll be able to paint the full picture of exactly what the business is and what the vision may be.

Research & Development:

Using the pointers and pain points garnered in discovery, I’ll begin my own deep dive into the client’s industry, their competitors and how they can compete via their own creative naming.

Namestorming Round:

Although hundreds of names may be created in the process, I’ll use a combination of critical thinking and creative exercises to forge a short list of 10x Trademark Available naming concepts that are relevant, unique and impactful.

Trademark Checks:

A check and crosscheck of all shortlisted naming concepts are conducted across multiple Trademark databases. Any infringements are replaced.

Brand Mockups:

Basic mockups of all naming concepts are created in order to show the client what that concept might look like off-screen and on a relevant medium, such as business cards or shopfronts.

Client Presentation:

These naming concepts are then presented to the client alongside reasoning/positioning, brand mockups and a spreadsheet detailing trademark and linguistic considerations.

Consultancy on Domains and Social Handles:

Throughout the project, I will also advise best practices in domains and social handles for the client’s brand.

Iteration-Based Revisions:

If needed, some iteration-based revisions can later be included alongside the existing naming concepts so that the client has some variations on the names they love.
