Process
Book discussion: Once we agree on the translation plan, I'll be ready to listen to your story and specific needs. Every book has its peculiarities, and we're going to make sure they are efficiently conveyed in the translation as well! We're going to tackle your story's narrating voice, the audience you want to reach, and the style you're trying to keep. Any additional details can be discussed here!
(Optional) Names and neologism discussion: Does your story or book come with newly coined words, terms, or neologisms? We're going to agree beforehand on a way to efficiently translate them into Italian!
Fully reading the original text: I'm going to read your story from start to finish, to have a clear idea of how the plot or the discussion goes, and to make sure the translation is coherent in every chapter of its narration. If I have any additional questions, I'll be sure to ask them before I start translating!
First draft of translation: I'm going to provide a first draft of the translation. Be mindful that this step can take from 1 to 6 months, depending on the length of the book and its complexity. Of course, we will already have agreed on the time needed before the start of the project, so no surprises for you!
Editing of the draft: The original text and its translation will be compared side-by-side to make sure no meaning is lost and the translation is as close as it can be to the story you wrote!
(Optional: Extra charge!) Peer review: Two sets of eyes are better than one? For an extra charge, I can have a fellow translator read the edited draft for an external opinion on the adaptation.
Final revision of the translation: The translated text will be edited on its own to ensure its fluency in Italian. After a final reading from start to finish, I'll deliver the polished, final version to you!
