Teaching science at home is far easier when the week is already planned. This service gives your learner a complete, ready-to-teach unit on scientific inquiry and lab skills.
The unit builds the habits that every later science course depends on: asking testable questions, running a fair test, reading data, arguing from evidence, and designing a solution under constraints. Every video and simulation is free, and every activity uses materials you already have at home.
What you receive
A day-by-day pacing guide: five days, about 60 minutes a day, written for grades 6-8 and adjustable up or down
Free videos and simulations I have used with my own students
Hands-on investigations with household materials, including a paper helicopter experiment and an egg-drop design challenge
A plain-language rubric and an exit assessment, so you can see what your learner has mastered
A parent guide with clear instructions and common dos and don'ts. No science background is needed.
Built for retention Skills last when a learner recalls them more than once. Each day opens with a five-minute recall warm-up, all work lives in one science notebook, and the guide includes short review prompts for one week, two weeks, and one month after the unit ends.
By the end of the week, your learner can
Tell an observation from an inference and write a testable question
Identify independent, dependent, and controlled variables
Record data, graph it, and describe the pattern
Write a claim supported by evidence and reasoning
Use the engineering design process to build, test, and improve a solution
How it works
You tell me your learner's grade level, schedule, and the materials you have on hand.
I tailor the guide to fit.
You receive a print-ready guide, with one round of revisions included.
This is the first unit in a growing series. If you need a different topic or a longer sequence, send me a message and we can plan it together.
