Build a world that shapes your characters, strengthens your conflicts, and supports your story.
A compelling fictional world influences what your characters believe, the choices available to them, and what they stand to lose. Whether you’re starting with scattered ideas or expanding an established setting, I’ll help you develop those connections into a cohesive foundation for your writing.
My primary focus is YA and New Adult fantasy, but writers working in other genres are welcome.

What we can develop

Depending on your project, we can explore:
Places and environments: regions, settlements, landscapes, climates, and resources.
Cultures and societies: traditions, beliefs, social expectations, daily life, and relationships between communities.
Power and institutions: governments, laws, class systems, organizations, and access to opportunity.
Magic and extraordinary forces: abilities, limitations, costs, and their effects on everyday life.
Creatures and plants: distinctive species, habitats, ecological roles, and cultural significance.
History and conflict: formative events, competing accounts, inherited tensions, and present consequences.
World-to-story connections: how your setting creates character goals, obstacles, and meaningful choices.

What you’ll receive

Your project includes a collaborative review of your goals, followed by a customized world development document covering our agreed areas of focus.
The document will organize established details, develop selected elements, and identify connections or inconsistencies that need attention. Any questions requiring your decision will be clearly marked, helping you retain control of your world and its direction.
One revision round is included to refine the work based on your consolidated feedback.

The process

Share your starting point. Send your ideas, relevant notes, and a brief description of the story or project.
Define the scope. We’ll agree on the elements to develop, document length, timeline, and price.
Develop the world. I’ll build on your foundation and connect the selected details to your story’s needs.
Review and refine. You’ll review the document and provide feedback for the included revision.

Project options

Focused World Development Develop one defined element, such as a location, culture, institution, magical system, or species.
Connected World Development Develop several related elements and explore how they influence one another, such as a region’s resources, government, and social tensions.
World Foundation Package Create a broader reference document covering the core elements of your setting, with an emphasis on consistency and story potential.
Each project is scoped individually. An existing world review or manuscript-based continuity assessment can be quoted separately.

What I need from you

A short description of your story and intended audience.
The world elements you want help developing.
Relevant notes or excerpts within our agreed review limit.
Any established details you want preserved.
Your preferred deadline.
You don’t need a completed manuscript or an extensive collection of notes to begin. A central idea and a few questions are enough to start the conversation.
Tell me about the world you’re building and where you feel stuck. We’ll define a project that gives you a useful foundation for your next stage of writing.
