Based on the brief, a moodboard is presented. Something for me to base my illustrations on. Even though I have a certain style, I can adjust my approach depending on the purpose of the illustration. Is it an informative illustration used as a complement to certain information, or is it part of a more open context? I make sure that the client and I are on the same page regarding the direction and use of the illustration. We also establish where the illustrations will be featured, and what formats are required. Will it be printed or featured digitally? It's important to establish the size and ratio of the area where the illustrations will appear, since it determines the composition of the illustration. Other parameters such as target audience are also determined.

Before completing the illustrations, wether there's a set of illustrations or just one, I present one or a couple of sketches that shows the client the direction we are headed and what style the illustrations will be in. Changes can be made in this stage, to make sure the the final result meets the expectations.

Finalised illustrations are presented, however the client is given an opportunity to make a revision if needed, again to make sure the final result is as expected. One revision is included, however if the client requires more than one revision that will be added to the cost, based on the hourly rate.

When the revisions are done the final results are presented and approved. The client gets access to all the essential files. A relevant license will also be determined, depending on where the illustrations will be featured and the estimated exposure.
