FAQs
Do I need strategy before visual design?
Yes, it matters. A nice-looking logo without strategy is just a pretty graphic. When we start with strategy, the logo and visual system have real purpose—they communicate what your brand actually stands for. This makes the design more effective and memorable.
How much time do I need to spend on this?
Not much. The questionnaire takes 30-45 minutes. We'll have one conversation to discuss findings and direction that takes 1-2 hours. After that, I handle the work and keep you updated. You review things and give feedback, but it's not super time-intensive.
What if I don't like the first logo concept?
The discovery and visual direction step helps us get aligned before design starts. If feedback during initial design is significantly different from what we discussed, we can explore a different direction—though most projects land on something you're happy with in the first round.
How many revisions are included?
You get one revision round on the logo design and one on the full visual system. Additional revisions beyond that would be handled through a short revision project.
Can I update the visual system later?
Of course. You'll have the Figma file with the design system, and I'll give you documentation so you can make adjustments. If you want professional help updating things as your brand evolves, that's what the monthly retainer is for.
What's included
Strategy & Research
We start with a brand questionnaire that captures your goals, values, target audience, competitors, and brand personality. This form gives us the foundation we need to build everything else. After that, I do audience research and create 2-3 detailed user personas with demographics, psychographics, behaviours, and needs.
Visual System
Once we have the strategy nailed down, I design your custom logo with 3-5 direction explorations so you can see different approaches. You pick the direction you like, and I develop it fully. The color palette includes 5-7 colors covering primary, secondary, and accent options, with hex codes and usage guidelines so you know when and how to use each color. The typography system includes your primary and secondary fonts, hierarchy rules, and size recommendations so everything looks consistent.
Documentation & Assets
You get a brand presentation deck that shows your strategy, logo evolution, color story, and real-world mockups so you can see how everything works together.
