When you get to a Series B, there is far less to hide behind than previous rounds. Your company has more operating history. There is way more data to be scrutinized. Where the seed stage is about small check sizes, big risk. The series B is about large check sizes, smaller risk profiles. VC diligence teams will expect real, hard data to quantify that risk. And they will be ruthless.
Later stage checks get written because a venture diligence team is able to correlate what they can see in your data room with market expansion, provable category leadership, defensibility, and a preparedness for a major liquidity event (exit or IPO).
When I am designing these later stage decks, I am storytelling with hard data, not app screens and cool ideas. This is quantifiable vision casting. And its orders of magnitude more complex than selling a "dream from your garage" at the seed stage.
Below are the core narrative arcs I look to design in series B, C, and D pitch decks. I would expect your inputs to contain some or all of the elements at each stage.

SERIES B OUTLINE: By Series B, investors aren’t just looking for PMF — they want strong evidence that you can scale the machine you’ve built.
Show deep financial rigor (unit economics, payback periods, cohort analysis).
Must demonstrate efficient growth, not just growth.
Narrative shifts from product to systems: ops, sales, marketing, hiring.
Must show proof of reducing dependence on founder-led execution.
Expansion strategy must be supported by real market data, not assumptions.
Series B is about “We know this engine runs — now we’re pouring fuel into it.”
Please Note: At the series B stage, the inputs I'm expecting should be data heavy (mostly excel sheets) along with a rough slide outline showing the order you want to present the data. I would also want to see a robust set of data room artifacts that reflect a serious bid for a Series B+ investment.
