About this service

Summary

I offer professional editorial design services with experience in creating visually compelling and well-structured publications. Beyond my technical expertise in InDesign, I have a strong aesthetic sense, ensuring that books, magazines, reports, and catalogs are not only functional but also visually engaging and cohesive. My focus is on delivering designs that enhance readability while maintaining a consistent and polished look.

Process

Briefing: In this stage, I analyze the project's goals, format, number of pages, and client requirements. I also determine whether I need to create a visual identity from scratch or work with an existing one.
Research: I gather visual references to inspire and guide the creation of a unique and cohesive design.
Defining visual elements: I select the typography, color palette, graphic elements, and grid, establishing the foundation of the publication’s design.
Sketch: I create an initial draft of 5 to 7 pages using the defined elements. This allows the client to review and approve the visual direction before the full layout process begins.
Layout design: Formatting and structuring all content within the defined visual framework.
Delivery and approval: Presentation of the final material for client review and approval.
Revisions and adjustments: If necessary, I offer up to three rounds of revisions to ensure the final result meets the client’s expectations.

FAQs

  • Do you create the visual identity of the material, or do I need to provide a brand guide?

I work in both ways. If a visual identity needs to be created, the service fee will be different.

  • Do you only work with design, or do you also review and edit the content?

I only work with design. The client must provide all textual content, already structured (chapters, sections, categories, titles, subtitles, etc.). The client will receive the editable file in InDesign or Illustrator for future edits or revisions. If modifications are needed after the project is completed, an additional fee will be charged.

  • Do you only do layout, or do you also develop the cover?

I also develop the cover, unless it’s an illustrated cover.

  • Does the quote include images and illustrations, or do I need to provide the files?

For original illustrations or photographs, the client will need to provide the files. For images that serve only as content illustrations, such as stock photos, these are included in the quote. The client should, however, indicate within the content where the images should be inserted (by specifying the placement of the photos).
