In my mind, refined use of the core design capabilities can be the most gratifying part of the roles I fill, but I believe that these are just the building blocks you have to stand on in order to innovate rather than simply executing tasks.

Core competencies as an industrial/product designer create space to analyse and reflect on approach, methodology and ultimately the output in general.

Becoming well versed in rigorous process is the only way you can truly understand when to step out of the constraints of a methodology or strategy - as such, whilst I derive genuine joy in diving deep into CAD/sketching etc, for me the real tangible satisfaction comes from understanding that my personal process at any moment is refined, scaled and optimised for the task at hand
