I will typeset your book using well-chosen fonts and elegant page designs that complement your text and enhance the reading experience. I have experience typesetting both print books and e-books, and I can create designs from the simplest basic novel to a complex layout with multiple columns and images.
In addition to creating original page designs, I can also work with specs you provide. We will collaborate throughout the process to make sure your book looks the way you want it to look.
I rely on The Chicago Manual of Style for guidance about typesetting matters. CMOS is one of the primary style guides in the publishing industry in the US.
Here's what's included in a typesetting project:
preparing the manuscript for typesetting
three sample page designs per format
three rounds of revisions per format
final typeset PDF for print books
final typeset EPUB or KPF file for e-books
assistance with uploading to the platform(s) of your choice
You will receive the editable source file(s) in addition to the final typeset book file(s).
I can use either Affinity or Microsoft Word to typeset print books. For e-books, I prefer to use Vellum, but I can also use Kindle Create, Affinity, or Scrivener. Please note that only Kindle Create can make KPF files.
The cost for typesetting projects depends on the length of the manuscript and the complexity of the project. Up to five visual elements such as photographs, illustrations, and charts are included in the base price, but there is an extra cost for books that have more visual elements or other features that make the design more complicated.
Most typesetting projects take less than two weeks to complete.
I charge $40/hour for typesetting projects. Message me to discuss your project and get a quote for cost and time to completion.
I'd love to typeset your book and get it ready to go out into the world!
