Summary
FAQs
❓ How is this different from user testing?
Heuristic evaluation is expert review based on established principles—I evaluate as an expert. User testing observes real users. Both are valuable; heuristic audits are faster, cheaper, and identify many issues user testing might miss. Ideal before user testing to fix obvious problems first.
❓ What products can you audit?
Any web application, SaaS platform, B2B tool, marketplace, or web-based product. Works for both live products and prototypes/designs. Native mobile apps can be audited but web applications are my specialty.
❓ How detailed is the report?
Very detailed. Expect 20-50 pages documenting 30-80 findings (varies by product complexity). Each finding includes description, severity, affected areas, why it matters, and specific recommendations.
❓ Do you need access to our product?
Yes, I need full access to explore thoroughly – either production access or demo account with broad permissions. If handling sensitive data, we can discuss NDA and appropriate access levels.
❓ How long does the audit take?
Evaluation itself takes 3-7 days depending on product complexity. Report creation another 3-5 days. Total delivery typically within 1.5-2 weeks from access granted.
❓ Can you prioritize findings based on our business goals?
Yes! During kick-off, we'll discuss your priorities (improve conversions, reduce support tickets, increase engagement, etc.). I'll weigh findings against your specific goals when prioritizing recommendations.
❓ What if we want help implementing the fixes?
The audit service is evaluation only. Implementation can be scoped separately – either specific fixes (hourly at $75/hr), feature redesign projects, or ongoing improvement retainer. Many clients use audit findings to plan their next design engagement.
❓ Do you share positive findings too?
Yes! The report includes what you're doing well – important for team morale and knowing what to preserve during improvements. Not everything is broken; I highlight strengths too.
❓ Can this be done confidentially?
Absolutely. I sign NDAs regularly and treat all product information confidentially. Your audit report and findings remain private unless you choose to share them.
❓ What happens after the audit?
You own the complete report and recommendations. Many clients use findings to: - Build internal roadmap, - Get buy-in for UX investment, - Scope redesign projects, - Engage me for ongoing improvement work.
