About this service

Summary

I compose and produce professional songs, preferably in the genres of pop, soul, funk, R&B or hip hop. What sets me apart is not only my passion and experience (playing three instruments, making music since I'm 7 years old), but also my understanding beyond music. As a musician and at the same time a graduate industrial engineer specialising in media and marketing, I understand what is needed from a commercial point of view to bring a song to market.

Process

We start with your idea, your lyrics or a reference song and talk about exactly what you have in mind, what your goals are and what your budget is. 
We exchange initial ideas and you get one or two short demos from me to find out if I can fulfil your wishes and needs. If you like what you hear and would like to work with me, we will sign a contract for a collaboration.
The music production contract clarifies the rights to the produced material and the budget. For me, a production always consists of a fixed budget + royalties. 
We start with the first song ideas and recordings, e.g. with guitar and voice, provided that I am involved in the songwriting process. After that, we compose the song together and I either start with the arrangement first or we start the vocal recordings immediately after recording one or two basic tracks. 
You are part of every step I take in my work and I consult with you on all musical decisions. It's not important what I like, but what is important to you as a label or artist and what suits you and appeals to you. 
After agreeing on the final arrangement and an initial rough mix, I create a high-quality mix and we agree on mixing decisions together. 
After the mix has been approved, the song goes to mastering. If you already have a mastering partner, I'm happy to work with them. Otherwise, I prefer to work with the professionals at Sterling Sound (particularly Chris Gehringer) or Abbey Road Studios for mastering. It's up to you whether you want to be present during the mastering or not. I'll organise everything for you, so you don't have to worry about a thing and can fully focus on your music or your work as an executive producer/label.

FAQs

  • What does a song cost?

    There is no general answer to this question, because the price depends on the effort involved in composing and producing the music. If you want a monumental orchestral piece or a song with numerous instruments, sounds and effects, it will cost more than if I just have to mix guitar and voice for a singer-songwriter. In general, however, I can say that the price for a song usually consists of a fixed amount to cover my production costs plus royalties.

  • I live in a different country than you. Is remote production possible?

    Yes, music knows no boundaries. For example, the recording of the voice can be separated from the usual production. However, I generally appreciate working together with the labels and artists on the production in the same studio. A different atmosphere arises, the work is more efficient and the result is usually better when you work together on the project. I am based in Germany and also fly to productions abroad, for example to the United States and Canada. Of course, the possibilities also depend on the budget for the project. I have already realised projects where we rented a studio in another city and worked with local teams.

    I will provide you with a fully composed, arranged, produced, mixed and mastered song. I do the mastering together with premium partners such as Sterling Sound or Abbey Road Studios. If you wish, I can also deliver only parts of it and I am happy to work as a team with you as an artist, label or songwriter and mixing engineer to produce your masterpiece.

  • Cover Art and MarCom material for your song or album

    As I am not only a music producer, but also a marketing expert with a degree from a Media University of Applied Sciences and 15 years of practical experience in marketing, I can also advise you on the marketing of your music and implement specific marketing measures. This includes services such as Cover art, Spotify for Artists profile optimisation, content creation for social media and much more.
