BASTION - A Jarvis-Style AI Command Center That Runs on Your Mac by Lewis SteadmanBASTION - A Jarvis-Style AI Command Center That Runs on Your Mac | Contra
Everyone else types into a chat box. You'll talk to a command center.
BASTION is a complete, working AI assistant kit you install on your own Mac. Press Return, speak, and it answers out loud — then actually does the work: morning reports, inbox briefs, trend scans, weekly reviews — and files every result into a memory vault you own.
The loop is the point: you speak → it works → the memory grows.
What makes it different:
It's visible. A live HUD dashboard with a particle sphere that breathes when idle and ripples while it thinks. Business vitals, run log, command deck — it looks like the thing they show in films, because that's what it's modelled on.
It's private. Your voice never leaves your machine — speech-to-text and the neural voice both run locally. Memory is plain markdown on your own disk (Obsidian-compatible). No telemetry, no analytics, no CDNs. AI calls go through your own Claude account — I never see your data.
It's yours. One config file changes the name, colours, metrics, and mission. Rename it, reskin it, and it introduces itself as whatever you called it.
It works in 10 minutes. Double-click launchers, a zero-jargon setup guide, and honest tiers — the dashboard and voice work before you install anything at all.
What's in the kit:
The full BASTION codebase — HUD dashboard, local voice stack, 3-tier response router
8 pre-built skills: AM report · plan today · inbox brief · trend scan · metrics pull · week review · vault clean · pipeline
Obsidian-compatible memory vault, pre-structured and seeded
brand.json — one file to rebrand the entire system
One-command setup script + "First 10 Minutes" guide written for non-technical owners
Commercial licence option: deploy branded forks for your clients, unlimited
Who it's for:
Founders and operators who want an AI that runs their morning, not another chat tab
Consultants and agencies who want a high-margin productised offer ("your own private AI ops assistant, installed and branded") — the Commercial tier includes unlimited client deployments
Anyone who believes their AI's memory should be a folder they own, not someone else's server
Straight answers before you buy:
macOS only (for now)
Full intelligence requires your own Claude subscription (Pro, ~$20/mo) or API key — that's a feature: your data stays on your account. Without it, skills run in demo mode and everything else still works
No code required — if you can double-click and paste one command, you can run it
