Cover image for I built STILL, an independent

I built STILL, an independent photography studio based in Manchester: https://light-and-still.lovable.app Getting clients through the front door is only half the battle. For solo photographers, the real nightmare is the busywork after someone asks to book: chasing prep forms, sending photoshoot directions, reminding people about remaining balances, and following up on stalled leads. STILL solves both sides of the counter: The front door: Clients explore an interactive photo globe, pick their session, check live studio slots, and lock it in with a deposit. Confirmation, calendar invites, and photoshoot prep go out immediately. Automated follow-through: The studio desk tracks every photoshoot's lifecycle. Pre-shoot questionnaires, 48-hour balance reminders, and location guides can be sent in one tap or set to run automatically. No lost revenue: If someone abandons halfway through checkout or goes quiet on an inquiry, STILL catches it and drafts a tailored follow-up to recover the booking. Studio control: The owner can set custom studio hours, block out multi-day holidays in one click, and deliver finished high-res photo galleries directly to clients. From initial inquiry to final photo handoff, without the owner spending their evenings playing receptionist.

Cover image for For this challenge, I used

For this challenge, I used several tools connected to Paper and Paper's Canvas to build Roam - a restaurant, eatery, and activity finder for Manchester. I wanted to create it because, coming back from uni with time to finally explore the city, I needed a way to visualise places I'd been meaning to visit on a map. I started by using Claude Code in the terminal to pull a button from my portfolio repo, then rebuilt and redesigned it in the Paper canvas for this project. From there, I used Claude Code and Gemini CLI to generate screens and variants via Paper MCP, picked my favourite, and brought it to life as a functional design in the new Lovable Desktop app using Paper MCP connection. I then synced the project to Cursor via GitHub and continued iterating - adding advanced features like maps, a light/dark mode using colour styles from my Paper Canvas, and a chatbot, both designed with Claude Code and Paper MCP. I finally powered the chatbot using Lovable AI and used the Paper metal shader for the chatbot button. Check out my post on X where I also have a longer version of the process video: https://x.com/ituadesign/status/2044547467488772264?s=20

Cover image for Repeat client work, this time

Repeat client work, this time the brief was a bit more specific. Client's original site had done it's work, but his body of work has grown to an extent now that the site needed a refresh. This time the client wanted a more obvious theme, and as their books are based around a flooded world then the theme was a no brainer. Getting the precise palette for the above sea elements was difficult and we went through a good number of iterations to get it right. It's amazing how if you make the sky too deep or add too much purple then the sea with these colours starts taking on a Disney look and feel! Definitely not what was wanted. Gently animated water to give undulating rhythm to the page without making it memory intensive or overly distracting. augustmae.co.uk (https://augustmae.co.uk)

Cover image for Today I've launched the next

Today I've launched the next evolution of my non-fiction written work. For just over a year I've been writing long-form daily articles about Technology, Governance and the Human cost of the things we build at smarterarticles.co.uk (https://smarterarticles.co.uk) Six weeks ago I launched a podcast, taking one of my published articles, and reworking it for the podcast format, with a new episode weekly. Today I launched the accompanying website: smarterarticles.fm (https://smarterarticles.fm) My spec was simple:- 1. Keep it simple, and minimalistic. My articles are published on a simple site, headlines, and content, and nothing more. I wanted to keep that simplicity. 2. Clean, professional, broadsheet-style publication. 3. No admin system. The site and its content take care of itself. I publish articles on a site that has an RSS feed, and I publish a podcast that has an RSS feed, so this site consumes both and the source of truth is where the content is originally published. 4. Plain English. Clear, precise, human. Read the About page or the Privacy Policy. I'm not trying to hide behind technobabble, only clarity. 5. No Cookies. No Tracking. No Analytics. No Recommendation Engine. No Profiling. No Selling or Sharing of Personal Data, clearly stated as a deliberate decision not an oversight seeking correction. Here are some example pages, I'd encourage you, if you so wish, to visit the site and let me know your thoughts: smarterarticles.fm (https://smarterarticles.fm)
