While ancient Egyptians worship him as a divine, docile relic, Bastien operates as a cynical sharp-eared court spy and blackmailer who looks down on humans with sarcasm. Core Worldview: Human loyalty is a complete illusion; information and court secrets are the ultimate currency of survival and power. ______________________________________________ Why Audiences Will Keep Watching? He flips standard historical drama upside down. The audience follows high-stakes empire politics through the eyes of an animal who holds the Pharaoh’s life, and the conspirators' heads, directly under his paw. ______________________________________________ The Pilot Episode & Series Premise Historical Anchor:  Based on the real Harem Conspiracy (c. 1155 BCE), in which Queen Tiye, Prince Pentawer, Majordomo Pebekkamen, and high-ranking court officials plotted to assassinate Pharaoh Ramesses III using poison and dark rites. Introduction (World & Character):  Bastien establishes his dual identity: a pampered temple idol receiving offerings from High Priests by day and a calculated collector of secrets by night. Slipping behind palace tapestries, Bastien uncovers Queen Tiye and Pebekkamen’s plot to poison the Pharaoh’s spiced wine. Dismissed by the conspirators as "just a dumb animal," Bastien turns their arrogance against them. The Twist & Cliffhanger:  During a formal banquet, Bastien casually bats the poisoned chalice out of Ramesses’s hand. As the venom burns the stone floor, the plot is exposed but the conspirators remain unidentified. Bastien breaks the fourth wall to issue his ultimatum: he has saved the king, holds the plotters' lives in his claws and will now sell his silence to the highest bidder. ______________________________________________ Engine for Future Episodes: Across future micro-episodes, Bastien manipulates both sides—demanding extravagant bribes from the terrified conspirators while guiding the suspicious Pharaoh just close enough to the truth to keep everyone scrambling.
