Meta just removed the placement checkboxes from ad sets.
What replaces them: a "value rule" that can cut a bid by up to 90% but cannot switch a placement off entirely.
So if you built brand-safety exclusions at the ad set level (blocking certain placements completely), that protection just became a discount instead of a block.
Your ad can still show up where you excluded it; Meta just bids lower for it.
Most advertisers won't notice until they check placement reports and see something they thought they'd turned off.
If you manage Meta ads for a business, this is worth auditing this week, not next quarter.
Anyone else catching this in their accounts?
