How I decide what to cut when a deadline is real.
I migrated a care community platform from WordPress to custom Laravel in a few months, and the client had an investor pitch coming. We couldn’t build everything, so I scoped to one thing: the core “happy path” a funder would actually click through.
What I do when the clock is tight:
- List every feature, then keep only what the demo needs to work end to end
- Make the demo feel alive: I wrote seeding scripts so the platform looked like an active community, not an empty one
- Leave the edge cases and admin extras for after the pitch, and say so up front
The result: a stable MVP in front of investors on time, instead of a half-finished everything.
If you’ve got a hard deadline and a long feature list, send me the list.
