Phantom Brew: a haunted cold coffee storefront
I built Phantom Brew, a Halloween-themed cold coffee e-commerce experience where the brand has been taken over by friendly ghosts. It has [number] pages, including a home page, product collection, product detail and a working cart drawer with a free-shipping progress bar.
Why I built it: Most Halloween projects are one-off animations. I wanted to show that spooky motion can work inside a real product experience, where it has to be fun without getting in the way of buying. Every scary element has a job. The ghost that flies from the product to the cart confirms “added to bag,” the flickering candle shows scroll progress, and the fog reveals content as it appears.

7:30 a.m. First coffee. Same ritual, every single day.
Some people have a sweet tooth. I have a coffee tooth. And while the kettle boils, I usually catch myself daydreaming about the same place: Japan, a trip I’ve wanted to take for years.
For this challenge, I brought the two together. Digging through public domain archives, I found Japanese woodblock prints with rolling waves, round windows, cherry blossoms and graceful women drawn in a few calm, confident lines. I turned them into a custom Recraft Style and gave it a brief no Edo-era print shop could have imagined: a modern café, with takeaway cups, delivery bags, loyalty cards and an ordering app.
The café is called Mado, “window” in Japanese: a small window to slow down in a busy day. Its barista, also Mado, wears an indigo wave apron, a round-window hairpin and wireless earbuds. She remembers your oat milk order, protects the window seats from video calls, and believes every laptop should close when the cake arrives.

Two different approaches to the same Shopify product page.
Option A: Editorial layout. Large imagery, generous spacing, and a stronger focus on brand storytelling.
Option B: Product-first layout. Clear pricing, visible product options, and a prominent Add to Cart button.
Both can look great, but they create very different shopping experiences.
If you were building a premium DTC brand, which direction would you choose?

Love the comparison! Option A feels more premium and brand-driven, perfect for this product. Option B is more direct for conversions. Both are solid!
