Microsoft Hyderabad, The Garage: an interactive installation for a hackathon (2023)
For a hackathon at Microsoft's Hyderabad centre, we built an interactive wall for The Garage.
A chalk-drawn figure on the screen tracks the skeleton of whoever steps in front of it and copies their movement in real time. The drawing on the board is always the person standing at it.
Around the figure, the wall is filled with hand-lettered chalk words like "design possible", "create possible" and "defy possible", tying the piece to the hackathon theme.
How it works
• A camera reads the body of the person in front of the wall.
• Their skeleton drives the chalk figure live, so every move is mirrored on screen.
• No controller or app needed: people just walk up and play.
In this post: live footage from The Garage, the chalk-figure loop and stills of the installation.
