🌐 Your Network Is Down. Where Do You Start?
A network issue doesn’t always require a complicated solution.
When users report “Internet is not working”, I follow a structured troubleshooting approach:
🔹 Check physical connectivity & interface status 🔹 Verify IP address, subnet mask & default gateway 🔹 Test local gateway connectivity 🔹 Verify VLAN & routing configuration 🔹 Check DHCP and DNS 🔹 Review ACL / firewall / NAT rules 🔹 Test the path using ping and traceroute 🔹 Identify the root cause before making configuration changes
The key lesson I've learned in network troubleshooting:
Don’t guess. Troubleshoot layer by layer.
I work with areas including Routing & Switching, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP and L1/L2 Network Support, and I'm currently available for remote freelance networking projects.
