I've done many enterprise application refactors and new builds, and one big contributor to success for me has been to discuss early with the dev team how to work together. What strengths / weaknesses do they have on the team? What parts of building an application do they like working on? How do we want to handle the design system? I do this so I can bend the design process and outcome to these strengths. Setting others up to succeed, playing to their strengths, usually means better (and faster) outcomes and relationships.
