Day 7: UI/UX Design
The past couple days was all UI/UX. someone left feedback on reddit saying the site needed a cleanup so I spent the day fixing it properly.
what shipped: - marker click bug fixed (was firing a backdrop close before the map could register the click, required two taps to switch places) - white box appearing on place panel open, root cause was a focus() call scrolling the document into the footer. locked scroll on /explore and added preventScroll - mobile toolbar collapsed from 3 rows into a single compact row - tap targets increased across the board - 44px minimum - panel skeleton state, no more height jump when data loads - contrast fixes across map toolbar, contribute page, and about sections (was failing WCAG AA) - zoom controls now visible and themed to match - outdated copy removed, punctuation cleaned up sitewide - duplicate hero CTAs fixed
none of these were glamorous changes but needed doing
