‘Import complete’ is not the same as ‘the sales team can continue working’.
Before moving an entire customer database, rehearse one complete customer history.
Use a fictional test company with two contacts, an old note, an assigned manager and an unfinished task. After import, ask the manager to find the company and continue that task.
Check the relationships, not only the row count: • Are both contacts attached to the right company? • Is the full note readable, with its original date and author where known? • Is the responsible manager mapped to the correct CRM user? • Is the task still open and linked to the right record?
If an author or date is missing, label it unknown. Don't turn the import date into an invented conversation date.
Agree how test records will be handled before the full import, so the rehearsal does not create duplicates. Keep the source files and a record of what was created, updated or rejected.
