Over the past year, AI has become a regular part of my workflow as an Android and iOS developer.
Like many engineers, I've started using AI tools to help with things like:
• Generating boilerplate code • Explaining unfamiliar APIs • Creating test cases • Reviewing implementation ideas • Speeding up research and debugging
What I've found interesting is that AI hasn't really reduced the need for engineering decisions—it has simply changed where I spend my time.
Instead of spending hours writing repetitive code, I can focus more on:
• Architecture and scalability • User experience considerations • Performance optimization • Code quality and maintainability • Collaborating with product and design teams
For mobile development especially, there are still many decisions that depend on context, business requirements, and user needs. Those are often the areas where experience makes the biggest difference.
For me, AI feels less like a replacement for development work and more like a productivity tool that helps me move faster and focus on higher-impact problems.
I'm curious how other mobile developers are using AI in their day-to-day work.
