I've been a writer my whole career. I just haven't always called it that.
NZ Herald. IBM. A travel practice I built from scratch. Somewhere in all of it I got very good at translating — taking what someone knows, believes, or has lived through and turning it into something other people want to read.
Right now I'm 32 days into a 100-day LinkedIn posting challenge. Writing and publishing every single day.
The thing nobody tells you about committing to daily writing is that it doesn't just produce more content. It changes the writer.
I'm less afraid of the blank page. I'm less attached to any single piece. I'm more willing to say the incomplete thing, the uncertain thing, the thing I haven't fully worked out yet — because tomorrow I get another go.
As a ghostwriter, that's actually the most useful thing. The best writing for other people comes from not overthinking it. From trusting that the right words exist and you just have to show up long enough to find them.
Still 68 days to go. But something is already different.

Here's the thing, it's easier to figure out than you think. People always say to follow your skills. Use what you're good at. But here's what they don't tell you: your skill and your purpose are not always the same thing.
I can relate to that a little too well.
People used to tell me I should do nails. I was good at it, so naturally that's what they saw for me. But I wasn't interested in doing that for the rest of my life. So I didn't. Now I'm here, a writer. Not because someone told me I was skilled at it. But because it's what I was called to do. Because it gives me purpose.
And that changes everything.
So here's the moral. let your voice be louder than the voices around you. You are the only one who has to live your life. You write your own rules. You run your own game. And you get to decide what that looks like.
So ask yourself this one question and be honest about it
Are you doing this because it's a skill? Or because it's what you truly want to do?
This is why hobbies matter more than we give them credit for. They're the one place you do something purely because it calls to you — no skill expectation, no performance. Sometimes that's where you find what you were actually meant to do.
