Is your team and CRM doing what the documentation says it does?
A US elevator manufacturer and field service company moved onto monday.com from an old CRM. Their documentation said 14 or 15 automations were running. Before building anything I audited the account: four days, fixed fee.
None of them were actually live or built.
No single board was broken. The gaps between them were the problem. Quotes, orders, installation and service each sat on their own board, and people carried every job from one to the next by hand.
What I rebuilt:
A won quote creates the project.
Field Service, Manufacturing and Engineering keep their stages in sync with the Contacts board.
Completion dates roll up to the project.
A billed job moves the record to inactive.
Purchase-order alerts and deal-won notices go to the right people in Slack.
Each role gets its own board view.
25 automations across 9 boards, tested on live records, including the awkward case where one contact has several jobs open at once.
Two rules I would keep:
Use monday.com's own automations for anything that stays on one board. Bring in Make.com only when the work has to cross boards or reach another tool which monday can't. Every outside dependency is one more thing someone has to maintain.
Audit before you build. Adding automations on top of a setup nobody has checked is how 14 of them end up existing only on paper.
The board in the image is illustrative, the client's data stays private.
When did someone last check that your automations actually run? Tell me what your documentation says should be happening and I will tell you how I would check it.
