A Romanian NGO needed the Jiu Valley's heritage buildings explorable online. The brief looked like a map. It was actually a system, because a heritage archive is never finished and the people who maintain it are not developers.
So, no map library. A custom SVG of six towns, with hand-built pins, tap targets and detail cards. No tiles, no API key, no per-request billing, and full control over how a pin looks and how it behaves on a phone.
Every building is a CMS entry. Its name, its history, its photo set, its glTF 3D scan, and its X and Y position on the map, all of it fields. The map renders whatever it finds there. Adding a building to the archive is a content job, not a deployment.
Feel free to explore at urbanlab.ro/harta, in Romanian.
