Heads-up for anyone with a public booking link on Contra I just had a cold booking come through for a Zoom call. The person used the name Anthony Mangurnong, a free Gmail (anthonymangurnong55@gmail.com), a Singapore phone number, and listed their timezone as Asia/Singapore. No LinkedIn, no website, company name just listed as their own name.
When asked for their objective, they pasted a Google Doc. The document claims to be from a Philippines and Singapore based team of full-stack/AI engineers. They say they will apply to 400 remote U.S. software jobs per day using your LinkedIn profile. You only need to show up for the technical and final interviews. Once a job is secured, a company laptop gets shipped to you that they control remotely. Salary payments go to you and you keep 50% while sending them the other half. They mention typical salaries of $120k–$210k and claim there are no upfront costs.
This matches known high-risk patterns (mass applications under someone else’s identity, remote-controlled company laptop, money routed through a personal account). I canceled the booking without responding or giving any reason.
If you get a similar booking or message, I’d suggest declining it and not engaging. Stay safe out there.
