Custom WordPress LMS Plugin — Khan Academy-Style Learning Platform

Designed and built a complete Learning Management System from scratch as a WordPress plugin — no existing LMS framework — for a Portuguese-language personal finance education site.

Architected a hybrid data model that keeps course content in WordPress custom post types (so editors keep native tooling) while moving all per-user state into 7 purpose-built MySQL tables, avoiding the postmeta bloat that cripples off-the-shelf LMS plugins at scale.

Key work: • Mastery-based progression system with locked/available/completed unit paths and permanent quiz completion • Daily streak engine with activity heatmap to drive learner retention • Visual drag-and-drop certificate designer: admins upload a branded PDF and position fields, with resolution-independent normalized coordinates; output is a QR-coded, publicly verifiable PDF certificate • Automatic YouTube transcript extraction with click-to-seek video navigation • Cookie-based guest progress so visitors can start learning before creating an account • Google / Facebook / X social login and a custom student role • Standalone full-screen admin SPA served outside wp-admin, with a Chart.js analytics dashboard and CSV export • 13 Playwright end-to-end tests across the auth, learning, quiz, certificate, and admin flows
