Curious how other video editors and creatives here actually land consistent clients.
Was it LinkedIn outreach? Finding agencies that hire freelancers and getting on their roster? Showing up where clients already hang out?
I've been doing direct outreach via LinkedIn Sales Navigator, applying to agency rosters, and submitting proposals here on Contra. Getting traction but interested in what's actually worked for others - especially for repeat or ongoing relationships rather than one-off projects.
For context: I focus on branded content and corporate video, working with clients in the UK, Ireland, and Europe remotely from the Netherlands.

Wow congrats!! Any tips for someone starting out?
One of the hardest things about freelancing for me has always been managing the huge waves of work that come in between long periods of drought.
After over 6 years of navigating those ups and downs, I've noticed there are certain times of year when companies hire more freelancers. September is one of those times, and boy oh boy has that been true this year.
For the first time EVER, I've had to turn prospective clients away. I'm not complaining, though! Being able to refer them to another freelancer is almost as exciting as taking them as a client for myself.
So, Contra fam, when are your big workload spikes throughout the year? I'm curious if this varies from industry to industry.
The referral part is the bit I'd plan for before the next spike. Keeping a short list of trusted people by specialty makes it much easier to send a useful introduction while the lead is still warm.
