𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

A research paper is not a health article.

And adding more citations doesn't automatically make an article better.

𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞.

When I write health content, I don't start by stuffing it with information to make it comprehensive. That can simply make the article worse.

Instead, I start by asking:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞?

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝?

Then I begin my research and keep the reader in mind:

What is important to this reader?

What needs a simple and clear explanation?

What could be misunderstood?

Which evidence supports the key point?

What does the reader need to know next?

I do this because when people search for health content online, they are often in a different state.

They aren't necessarily looking for passive facts. They're looking for answers to a specific problem.

Don't research an article just to collect facts.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞.

It's one thing to research.

It's another to turn that research into simple, clear, and actionable content a reader can use.

A reader shouldn't have to work their way through an entire encyclopedia just to find the point. Too much unnecessary information can overwhelm someone who simply wants an answer to their health question.

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭.

For me, that's where the real writing begins.

Good health writing isn't just about knowing the facts.
