I design and build things for a living. Not just the visuals. The whole thing: identity, website, development, motion.

When I work on something, I go deep into the domain. If the product runs on AI, I want to understand what the model is actually doing, what it gets wrong, and why that matters to the user. If it is a payment product, I want to know how the money moves, where it can fail, and what that feels like on the other end.

You cannot design clearly for something you only understand from the outside. Shallow understanding produces shallow design.

Most of what I find interesting is the gap between how good a product actually is and how well it comes across. That gap is almost always a design problem; and it is almost always fixable. This is where I spend most of my time, and where I will be writing from.

What actually makes a design feel “minimal”… and not just empty?🤔 When I was building my own-site I was conscious of balancing minimalism with being intentional.

Mentally I am always thinking: What needs attention first? How does the viewed get instant understanding? What can I take away without losing the meaning?

I think minimal design works best when it’s doing something for the user, not just for aesthetics.
